CSA HKM Supports Asia Pacific CACS Conference 2019

ISACA China Hong Kong Chapter will host the Asia Pacific Computer Audit, Control and Security Conference (CACS Conference) on April 1, 2019.  This event is supported by Cloud Security Alliance Hong Kong & Macau Chapter.

With a key theme “Emerging Technologies: Risks & Opportunities, A Five-Year Landscape”, the conference this year will take a focus on how to mitigate the risks and grasp the opportunities in this uncertain world with numerous changes in the status quo brought by the emerging technologies.

The conference aims to provide participants with the information, tools and best practices on how to overcome challenges and be prepared for future trends.  Heavy-weight speakers around the world will share their know-how and wisdom to all the audiences through their talks and workshops.

Together with the conference, two post conference workshops will be held on April 2-3, 2019.

CSA HKM Supports ICT Conference 2019

Rapid development of digital technologies like big data, advanced communications and multimedia is greatly enhancing the modern life while security and privacy are inviting increasingly challenges. At the same time, it provides unprecedented business opportunities for the industry particularly in the local ICT industry.

The Informatics and Control Technologies section of the IET Hong Kong is taking an initiative in organizing a technical conference, the “ICT Conference 2019 – Tech-Pillars for Tomorrow”, to provide a forum for the government officials, key industry professionals, and university researchers to share on the government policy, the opportunities and threats in the ICT era, as well as the latest development and applications which will help Hong Kong be constructed as a competitive smart city.

The Hong Kong ICT (HKICT) Awards aims at recognising and promoting outstanding information and communications technology (ICT) inventions and applications, thereby encouraging innovation and excellence among Hong Kong’s ICT talents and enterprises in their constant pursuit of creative and better solutions to meet business and social needs.

There are eight categories under the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2019, with the Smart Business Award covers 4 streams, including Solutions for Business and Public Sector Enterprise, Solution for SME, Big Data and Open Data Applications as well as Information Security. There will be one Grand Award in each category, and an “Award of the Year” will be selected from the eight Grand Awards by the Grand Judging Panel.

With over 25 year of experience in cyber security, William is leading a team of security evangelist and product specialist across Asia Pacific, helping customers to embrace the cloud securely and manage the risk in digital  transformation with a human centric approach by focusing on the rhythm of people as well as the flow of data in and out of the organization.

Started as an engineer with Websense in 2003, William became a subject matter expert in both web security and data loss prevention.  He was involved in some of the largest DLP deployments in the region with well over 30,000 endpoints across eight APAC countries.

Cyber Security Consortium 2018

Cyber Security Consortium 2018 .jpgCloud Security Alliance Hong Kong & Macau Chapter will support the Cyber Security Consortium 2018 organised by Hong Kong Police Force on October 23-25, 2018.

The Consortium aims at bringing together international cyber security experts, senior management in public and private sectors, IT practitioners and LEAs to exchange knowledge and intelligence on cyber attacks and share best practices on critical infrastructures protection and incident response.

The consortium will include a 2-day conference and a number of seminars and workshops demonstrating management and technical theories and applications on cyber security. In addition to the management and technical tracks, there is also a special track containing three areas of interest, namely Cyber Security and Fintech, Cyber Security and Smart City as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection in order to provide participants with insights of these emerging fields of cyber security in a holistic manner.

The Hong Kong Police Force, together with other LEAs, will also share the latest cyber security trend with participants from a law enforcement perspective. It is undoubtedly one of the flagship events in the cyber security arena in Hong Kong for you to stay tuned of the latest trend of cyber security and learn from overseas and local experts.

Apart from the main conference of the Consortium to be held on 23-24 October 2018 (Tuesday – Wednesday), there will be a closed-door session for invited local and overseas LEAs in the morning of 25 October 2018 (Thursday).

This month we have invited Mr Nelson Yuen, Technology Manager from Microsoft, to deliver a talk on the compliance planning strategy for the General Data Protection regulations (GDPR), from Microsoft’s perspective.

The Talk: Microsoft Perspective: GDPR Compliance Planning Strategy

The GDPR contains many requirements about how you collect, store, and use personal information. This means among other things, not only how you identify and secure the personal data in your systems, but also how you accommodate new transparency requirements, how you detect and report personal data breaches, and how you train employees in the collection and use of personal data. The session will share planning & implementation strategy and common technologies & tools on the market to achieve the GDPR compliance goal.

The Speaker: Nelson Yuen, Technology Manager, Microsoft
Nelson Yuen is a Technology Manager at Microsoft. He spent most of his career in the security industry working at Symantec, Thales, Sophos and Utimaco. Specializing in secure cloud service, identity access management and mobility security, information protection and data leakage prevention. He is also an experienced cybersecurity advisor and involved with data security & compliance discussions with CXX executives across different industries in ASEAN and Greater China regions. Currently, he is working on critical projects such as security technology research for GDPR compliance and also sits as a member of Executive Council at the Hong Kong Computer Society Cyber Security Specialist Group.

Nelson received his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at University of London.
